Macatawa Modern

The client approached us to modify the landscape for their existing cottage on Lake Macatawa to provide ample space for family and friends to gather near the water’s edge. Since the clients were renovating their home to a more clean-cottage feel, they were already planning on that design approach for the landscape. This project features a long walkway of pavers that traverse multiple grade changes that spill onto a drive of the same material, maintaining design continuity. A separate patio and walk off the newly constructed deck and steps provide a space to gather around a custom-built gas fire pit with a concrete top.

New plantings adorn the entire foundation of the house to achieve a modern, yet relaxed and softened tone to this unique property.
